FYI

A friend is the arts and culture producer for the PBS NewsHour, and I've provided some informal advice to her about the poetry scene, plus directed her to speak with people who know better than I.

There is now a PBS NewsHour Poetry Alerts listserve, if any of you would like to subscribe. You'll get a message when a poetry segment is due to appear--it looks like about twice a month now.

Here's what they've done so far:

02/27/06 BRIAN TURNER PROFILE
03/21/06 WYATT PRUNTY PROFILE
03/14/06 COWBOY POETRY
04/10/06 GOLDMINE SALOON/NEW ORLEANS POETRY
05/04/06 PULITZER POETRY WINNER INTERVIEW
05/09/06 DAVID LEHMAN/POETRY ANTHOLOGY PIECE
05/12/06 NATASHA TRETHEWEY PROFILE

So it's a pretty broad mix. To subscribe, send an email from the email address you'd like to receive updates at to listserv@pbs.org. In the body of the message, type the following: subscribe newshour-poetry-l. That last character is a lower-case "L".
